On my WinXP, I got the VIA Platform Device Manager
on my last update. How do I get rid of it? The
usual "Add or Remove Programs" fails to remove
it. Since I have no audio connected to the box,
I have no use for it.

Thanks,
Mike.

Try downloading it again,R.click on it,sometimes the option to "remove"
will be present,if so select it.Otherwise,if it wont uninstall, one can
manually
delete the software from the many areas it's installed on to,or disable it in
services.msc.Although it will still be present, msc will prevent it
running.You
can/could also remove it in recovery console, type:Listsvc Scroll to
it,write it
down, once thru exit, type:Del Type in the info you wrote down.
